Phil is based in Covington's New York office and focuses on copyright matters with an emphasis on media and entertainment, music, technology, film and television, video games, sports, and live entertainment. His global practice includes all aspects of copyright, as well as right of publicity and trademark, and encompasses the full spectrum of counseling, litigation, transactions, legislation, and regulation. He regularly represents clients in federal and state court, as well as before the U.S. Copyright Royalty Board, Copyright Office, Patent & Trademark Office, and Trademark Trial & Appeal Board.
Phil is a trusted advisor for a diverse array of global stakeholders, providing worldwide advice on product and corporate counseling, licensing and acquisitions, disputes and enforcements, and public policy. He regularly advises, speaks, and writes on cutting-edge topics including generative and agentic AI, deepfakes, platform liability, and Web 3.0.
