WASHINGTON—Covington has been named the 2025 “Most Impressive Investigations Practice of the Year” by Global Investigations Review (GIR), recognizing the firm’s outstanding work navigating some of the most complex and high-stakes investigations over the past year. This marks the fifth consecutive year that GIR has shortlisted Covington in this category.
In its coverage, GIR highlighted Covington’s role in securing two DOJ declinations over the past year—one for Stanley Black & Decker in connection with alleged FCPA violations, and another for Proterial Cable, a New York-based parts manufacturer, over alleged misrepresentations regarding product safety. The firm also guided drug testing company Inotiv through an SEC investigation related to alleged FCPA violations involving the importation of research monkeys, resulting in no enforcement action. Additionally, Covington helped TE Connectivity reach a favorable $5.8 million settlement with the Bureau of Industry and Security (BIS) over export control violations linked to China.
Covington also resolved one of the largest emissions fraud cases in U.S. history for Hino Motors, securing a multiagency resolution without a compliance monitor or independent auditor. The DOJ cited Hino’s ‘exemplary cooperation,’ which contributed to one of the largest percentage discounts ever granted in a criminal resolution.
In addition to its recognition by GIR, The National Law Journal recently named Covington its “White Collar Litigation Department of the Year”—the third time in five years the firm has received this honor. In 2024, Covington also won in the “Crisis Management & Government Oversight” category, reflecting the firm’s strength in white collar, congressional investigations, and government litigation.
