Latinvex Names Three Covington Partners Among “Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers” for 2024

NEW YORK—Latinvex has named Nicole Duclos, Miguel López Forastier, and Gabriel Mesa among Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers. The 12th annual ranking is a selection of the leading lawyers from international law firms that are involved in the legal business in Latin America.
Nicole represents clients in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as transnational litigation. Nicole has acted as counsel and advisor in international commercial arbitrations under the ICC, UNCITRAL, ICDR and AAA rules, as well as in investment treaty disputes under the ICSID and UNCITRAL rules. Her experience spans construction, energy, mining, agroindustry, and finance, among other industries. Nicole also sits regularly as arbitrator. This is the ninth year she has been named to the list.
Miguel co-chairs Covington’s Global Problem Solving practice. Miguel’s practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation. He has successfully represented a wide range of clients, including those in the oil and gas, mining, biotech, pharmaceutical, communications, financial services, and food industries in both investor-State and commercial arbitrations. Both civil-law and common-law trained, Miguel handles contentious work in English, Spanish, and Portuguese. He also sits as arbitrator.
Gabriel leads the firm’s Latin America Corporate Practice Group. He advises companies on corporate transactions, including joint ventures, private mergers and acquisitions, financings and restructurings in Latin America and other emerging markets as well as in the United States. His work spans venture capital and private equity investments, strategic acquisitions, privatizations and oil and gas ventures. This is the eleventh consecutive year that Gabriel has been named to the list.
