LOS ANGELES—Joseph Dunn and Abigail O’Brient have joined Covington's Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice as partners in Los Angeles.
Joe and Abby are experienced restructuring attorneys and creditor rights litigators who have guided a wide range of clients through the chapter 11 process, out of court restructurings and related litigation, including representation of liquidating trustees and other fiduciaries under confirmed plans. Joe and Abby also have developed an adjacent asset recovery practice to assist clients seeking to enforce judgments and arbitration awards nationally and internationally. They regularly appear before courts in Delaware, New York, California, Texas, and multiple other jurisdictions.
"Joe and Abby have stellar reputations as energetic and collaborative lawyers with versatile bankruptcy experience who will enhance and grow Covington’s existing restructuring practice," said Dianne Coffino, head of the firm's Restructuring and Bankruptcy Practice. "They possess a unique combination of litigation and transactional skills and experience, representing diverse clients in bankruptcy cases and related litigation, and bring added asset recovery and judgment enforcement capabilities that can enhance our offerings for our insurance, commercial litigation, and arbitration practices."
"Covington’s collaborative culture and the renowned strength of its corporate and litigation practices presents a tremendous opportunity to not only expand our work, but also apply our expertise to create value for Covington's current and future clients," said Joe. "We look forward to working with our Covington colleagues and exploring the potential synergies between our post-confirmation fiduciary practice and Covington’s strong policy-holder side insurance practice," added Abby.
Joe received his J.D. from Washington and Lee University School of Law and his B.S. from California State University, Chico. Abby received her J.D. from University of California, Berkeley School of Law and her B.A. from Washington and Lee University.
