LONDON—Covington advised the sponsor consortium of ENGIE and Electricite de France (EDF) in relation to the development and financing of the approximately $79 million Noor 2 Street Lighting Project in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.
The Noor 2 Street Lighting Project is a Public-Private Partnership (PPP) between Nojoom Project Company Streetlighting Installation Repair and Maintenance LLC - a joint venture between ENGIE and EDF - and the Abu Dhabi Department of Municipalities and Transport in collaboration with the Abu Dhabi Investment Office. This PPP is part of the Abu Dhabi Road Lighting Programme and delivers phase 2 of the Road Lighting LED project.
The project includes the finance, supply, installation, operation and maintenance of 133,473 LED energy-efficient luminaires in the Emirate of Abu Dhabi. Over the 12-year concession period, it will result in almost 2,400 million kWh of electricity savings, approximately equivalent to a 74 percent reduction in power consumption.
The Covington team was led by Agnieszka Klich and included Azumah Cofie and Samya Idi.
