Latinvex Names Four Covington Lawyers Among 2021’s “Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers”

NEW YORK—Latinvex has named Covington lawyers Nicole Duclos, Rubén Kraiem, Miguel López Forastier, and Gabriel Mesa among its list of Latin America’s Top 100 Lawyers. The ninth annual ranking is a selection of the leading lawyers from international law firms that are involved in the legal business in Latin America.
Nicole Duclos represents clients in international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as transnational litigation. She focuses her practice on international commercial and investment arbitration, as well as transnational litigation, with emphasis in Latin America. Her experience spans construction, energy, mining, and other industries. Nicole also sits regularly as arbitrator. According to clients, Nicole is “an excellent arbitration lawyer” and has “astute commercial judgement. She remains a key figure in the market, regularly advising notable corporate clients on significant commercial arbitration cases.” This is the sixth year she has been named to the list.
Rubén Kraiem, co-head of the firm’s Latin America Corporate Practice Group, advises clients with business interests in Latin America, as well as companies based in Latin America who are engaged in cross-border acquisitions or financings. Rubén has been involved in many significant life sciences, banking, and insurance-related acquisitions and joint ventures in Latin America, as well as transactions in industries as diverse as telecommunications, media, real estate development, healthcare, and consumer products. This is the third year Rubén has been named to the list.
Miguel López Forastier’s practice focuses on international arbitration and litigation. Miguel has successfully represented a wide range of clients, including those in the oil and gas, mining, communications, financial services, and food industries in both investor-State and commercial arbitrations. Miguel’s work is praised by clients for his “thorough analysis, insightful advocacy, and consistently reliable judgment.” This is the third year Miguel has been named to the list.
Gabriel Mesa is co-head of the firm’s Latin America Corporate Practice Group. He advises companies on corporate transactions, including joint ventures, private mergers and acquisitions, financings and restructurings in Latin America and other emerging markets as well as in the United States. Clients single Gabriel out as “a really knowledgeable lawyer,” in addition to praising “his strong attention to detail and clear, straightforward advice.” This is the eighth consecutive year that Gabriel has been named to the list.
