NEW YORK—Covington advised on the Deal of the Year winner in the Private Equity category at the LatinFinance 2020 Deals of the Year Awards. Covington represented Abertis Infraestructuras, S.A., a Spanish toll road company, in its equity arrangement in connection with its joint acquisition with GIC Special Investment Pte. Ltd. of a controlling stake in Red de Carreteras de Occidente S.A.B. de C.V. (RCO), one of the leading toll road operators in Mexico. The sellers were Goldman Sachs Infrastructure Partners (GSIP) and local investors and pension fund managers (AFORES). Abertis acquired a 51.3% stake in RCO for $1.7 billion.
