Covington Awarded Top HRC Rating for Eighth Consecutive Year
November 18, 2015
WASHINGTON, DC, November 18, 2015 - The Human Rights Campaign Foundation (HRC) has awarded Covington a perfect score of 100 percent for the eighth consecutive year on its Corporate Equality Index, a national benchmarking survey and report on corporate policies and practices related to LGBTQ workplace equality. Covington is among 400 major US businesses that earned a perfect score this year and will be recognized in HRC’s “Best Places to Work for LGBTQ Equality” list.
“We are extremely proud to be recognized by the Human Rights Campaign Foundation for creating an inclusive workplace for everyone,” said Tim Hester, the firm’s chair. “Receiving a perfect score for eight years reflects our long-standing commitment to promote and protect the rights and interests of the LGBTQ community.”
Covington’s 100-percent rating reflects the firm’s sexual orientation and gender identity non-discrimination protections, sexual orientation and gender identity training, and support for same-sex partners of lawyers and staff with health insurance, bereavement and family leave policies, as well as its contributions to LGBTQ community organizations.
“In this 2016 Corporate Equality Index, hundreds of major businesses responded to our new standards for workplace equality with exceptional leadership,” said Deena Fidas, HRC Foundation Workplace Equality Program Director. “Covington not only meets these standards, it goes above and beyond the call of duty, making commitment to equality a fundamental aspect of its corporate values."
The Human Rights Campaign Foundation is the educational arm of America's largest civil rights organization working to achieve equality for LGBTQ people.
