Covington’s Geradin and Girgenson Named Winners of 2012 Antitrust Writing Award

4/3/2012

BRUSSELS, 3 April, 2012 — “Industrial Policy and European Merger Control: A Reassessment” won the Best Academic Mergers Article category in connection with the inaugural Antitrust Writing Awards presented by the Institute of Competition Law and the George Washington University Law School. The article was co-authored by Damien Geradin and Ianis Girgenson, both resident in Covington’s Brussels office, and was originally published in the annual proceedings of the Fordham Antitrust Conference.

The winning articles were selected by a jury composed of leading academics and counsel and by readers of the journal Concurrences and the e-Competitions Bulletin, published by the Institute of Competition Law. The awards recognise the year’s best articles published in the antitrust law and economics fields.

Professor Damien Geradin recently co-authored a new book, “EU Competition Law and Economics,” as a reference for practitioners and academics specialising in competition law, as well as for economists and general commercial practitioners. It is the first EU competition law treatise that fully integrates economic reasoning in its treatment of the decisions of the European Commission and the EU courts. It is available now from the Oxford University Press.

Covington’s global antitrust practice and its lawyers are widely recognised for their excellence, including rankings in Global Competition Review, Chambers Global, Chambers Europe, Chambers USA, Legal 500 EMEA, Legal 500 US and PLC.
