Covington Named ‘Top Ten Family Friendly Firm’ by Yale Law Women

WASHINGTON, DC, April 29, 2011 — Covington & Burling LLP has been named to Yale Law Women’s 2011 list of Top Ten Family Friendly Firms. This marks the fourth time that Covington has been honored with this award since its inception six years ago.

The Yale list recognizes firms that demonstrate a strong commitment to family friendly practices. The judges evaluate firms based on criteria that includes access to and use of maternity/paternity leave; emergency and on-site child care; part-time and flex-time work schedules; health and other benefits for domestic partners; ratios of women partners and associates; and billable hours.

Covington’s commitment to family friendly policies has been widely recognized. Working Mother magazine has regularly named Covington to its 100 Best Companies and Best Law Firms lists. In the most recent American Lawyer’s survey on diversity, Covington ranked third for the number of women equity partners among law firms. In addition, 27 women serve as chair or vice-chair of departments at Covington.
