WASHINGTON, DC, June 12, 2009 — In the 2009 Chambers USA guide, released today, Covington & Burling LLP’s policyholder insurance practice is ranked as the best in the nation, marking the second time this month that the practice has received an exclusive top tier national ranking by a prominent legal guidebook. On June 3, Legal 500 also gave Covington’s policyholder insurance practice the single highest ranking among all policyholder firms in the US.
In addition to the top ranking in Chambers USA, Covington’s policyholder practice has received a Chambers USA Award for Excellence in Insurance for the second time in three years. Covington was the only policyholder firm to receive the national award, which was announced last night in New York at a ceremony held in conjunction with the release of the annual guidebook.
In recognizing Covington’s policyholder practice in the 2009 guide, Chambers USA editors write that interviewees identified Covington as having “the top policyholder insurance practice in the country,” and lauded the firm’s coverage lawyers as the “gold standard” for policyholder work.
Chambers USA also gave Covington’s policyholder practice exclusive top rankings in California and the District of Columbia.
Covington’s insurance practice, with more than 100 lawyers, has a 30-year record of successfully assisting policyholders in maximizing their insurance coverage for a wide variety of claims. The firm’s lawyers have helped policyholders recover well in excess of $15 billion.
