Covington Shortlisted For Three Chambers USA Awards

WASHINGTON, DC, May 15, 2009 — Three practices at Covington & Burling LLP have been nominated for 2009 Chambers USA Awards for Excellence. The firm received team nominations in the Insurance, International Trade and Privacy & Data Security categories. The awards recognize significant achievements over the past 12 months, including notable work, strategic growth, excellence in client service, and contribution to the legal profession.

Covington’s policyholder insurance practice helps policyholders recover insurance for a wide variety of claims, including mass-tort liabilities, catastrophic losses, property losses, and D&O and E&O exposures.

The firm’s international lawyers have assisted dozens of private companies and a number of governmental entities in successfully navigating the US trade laws, including antidumping and countervailing duty investigations and Sections 201 “escape clause” proceedings.

Covington was one of the first firms to develop a practice in the field of privacy and data security – how entities collect, use, share, and protect personal information. In recent years, the firm’s privacy and data security lawyers have helped write landmark legislation, counseled clients on complex transactions, developed compliance strategies covering a wide variety of statutes and regulations, helped respond to numerous security breaches, authored or co-authored multiple treatises, and represented clients in investigations, enforcement actions, and litigation.

The Chambers USA Awards for Excellence is an annual event hosted by Chambers and Partners, and coincides with the release of the annual Chambers USA guidebook. This year’s event is scheduled to be held on June 11 at Cipriani 42nd Street in New York.
