Covington Strengthens EU Competition Practice With Addition of Miranda Cole

2/9/2009

BRUSSELS, February 9, 2009 — Covington & Burling LLP is pleased to announce the arrival of Miranda Cole, who joins the firm’s EU competition practice in Brussels as special counsel. Ms. Cole practices competition and communications law and policy, and has some 15 years of experience in the field.

Ms. Cole’s expertise in the competition field encompasses merger control, actions under Article 82 EC, advisory work and actions before the European courts in Luxembourg. In addition, she has extensive experience in the telecommunications arena, across all aspects of regulation, policy and competition law relating to the sector, and counselling relating to the impact of regulation on transactions.

“Miranda is a terrific addition to the team. Her experience in the communications sector as well as in advising on merger control issues reinforces our existing capabilities in Europe. One of Covington’s core strengths is our ability to offer both competition and regulatory advice to heavily regulated industries, and Miranda’s experience in the communications sector provides a very strategic fit,” said David Hull, head of the firm’s EU competition group.

Ms. Cole added: “Covington’s EU competition practice is very highly regarded in Brussels, and I am delighted to join the team, not in the least because of the cutting edge work and the firm’s exceptional reputation in the global and European regulatory fields.”
