Covington’s Martin Gold Unveils Updated Book on Senate Procedures

WASHINGTON, DC, August 6, 2008 — The second edition of Senate Procedure and Practice has been published.  Martin Gold updates the first edition published in September 2004 by Rowman & Littlefield Publishers, Inc.

Senate Procedure and Practice is a practical, real-world explanation of the legislative process in the U.S. Senate. Filled with fascinating stories and insights, the book highlights not only the reason for a given rule, but also how it works in practice. The latest edition has been updated throughout to reflect substantive changes to standing rules of the Senate which went into effect with the Democratic takeover in January 2007.

Mr. Gold is co-chair of Covington’s Legislative Practice Group. He has more than 30 years of legislative experience in the public and private sectors, and served as Floor Advisor and Counsel to former Senate Majority Leader Bill Frist. Widely recognized as an expert on Congressional procedure, Mr. Gold has presented hundreds of seminars on Senate procedures and practices before Congressional and private sector audiences, and has lectured at the Russian Federal Assembly, the Parliament of Ukraine, Moscow State University, and the Russian Foreign Service. In 2007, he was recognized as one of the “Top 50 Lobbyists” by Washingtonian magazine.

The book is available in both hardcover and paperback.
