Covington Advises LX Networks in Deal with NBC Universal’s Local Media Group


WASHINGTON, DC, January 28, 2008 — LX Networks LLC, a leading producer of local television and broadband video programming under the LX.TV name, has been acquired by the NBC Local Media Division of NBC Universal. The announcement was made today. Covington & Burling LLP advised LX Networks in the deal.

Founded in 2006 and based in New York, LX’s programming features innovative lifestyle content across media platforms. In addition to its LX.TV broadband channels, LX also produces television programming for NBC’s flagship affiliate WNBC in New York, including OpenHouse NYC, a real estate program, and LX.TV 1stLook NY, a New York lifestyle show.

Covington’s Eric Greenberg, a transactional partner in the firm’s corporate and media practices, served as lead counsel on the transaction for LX. Other members of the Covington team who advised LX on the transaction include corporate associates Mike Riella and Brandon Gay*, special counsel Marie Lavalleye (trademarks), partner Rob Heller (tax), partner Mike Francese (benefits), associate James Williamson (benefits), and associate Heather Haberl (real estate). All are based in Covington’s Washington office with the exception of Mr. Heller, who is resident in the firm’s New York office.
