Justice Department Litigator Ross Rejoins Covington

WASHINGTON, DC, November 15, 2007 — Covington & Burling LLP announced today that Simone E. Ross has joined the firm’s white collar defense and investigations group as of counsel. Ms. Ross will be resident in the firm’s Washington office, where she previously practiced as an associate.

For the past five years, Ms. Ross was an Assistant Counsel in the Justice Department’s Office of Professional Responsibility. She was an associate with Covington from 1995-1997 and from 1998-2002. In the intervening period, Ms. Ross was an Assistant United States Attorney in the District of Columbia.

“We are delighted to welcome Simone back to Covington,” said Gregg Levy, co-chair of the firm’s litigation practice group. “Her experience at the Department of Justice will make her a strong addition to our very active white collar defense and investigations group.”

Ms. Ross commented, “Covington is well respected among prosecutors not only for its successes in the courtroom, but also for the creative strategies it develops to resolve cases without trial. I look forward to working again with several of my mentors, and with litigators who have joined the firm in my absence.”

Ms. Ross received her undergraduate and law degrees from Stanford and Georgetown, respectively. She then clerked for the late Judge Aubrey E. Robinson, Jr., of the U.S. District Court for the District of Columbia.
