Covington’s Eizenstat Named “Leading International Trade Lawyer”

September 27, 2007

WASHINGTON, DC, September 27, 2007 — Covington & Burling LLP partner Stuart Eizenstat was recently named a “Leading International Trade Lawyer” by Legal Times as part of that publication’s series profiling the top ten lawyers in particular practice areas. Mr. Eizenstat heads the firm’s international practice.

The feature story, published on September 17th, describes Mr. Eizenstat’s work at Covington since 2001, as well as some of his public service milestones. Along with his prominent positions in the White House and in the Treasury, State, and Commerce Departments, he served as Ambassador to the European Union. The article quotes a client’s observation that: “Stu has a first-class intellect, coupled with prodigious energy and stamina. Stu also has an ability -- second to none -- to deal with and understand the detail, without ever losing sight of the strategic and big picture.” The feature also noted other talented Covington lawyers in the international trade field, including Peter Trooboff, David Marchick, Peter Flanagan and Marney Cheek.

This is the fourth Legal Times “Leading Lawyer” survey in 2007, and a Covington partner was also named in each of the prior three. Jonathan Blake was named a “Leading Communications Lawyer,” George Pappas was named a “Leading Business Litigation Lawyer,” and Mitchell Dolin was named a "Leading Insurance Lawyer.”
