Covington Advises Thomson Corporation on Sale of Medical Education Business

NEW YORK, NY, April 16, 2007 — The Thomson Corporation closed the sale of its Thomson Medical Education business to ABRY Partners, a Boston based private equity firm.  Covington & Burling LLP advised The Thomson Corporation on the transaction.

The Thomson Corporation is a leading global provider of integrated information-based solutions to business and professional customers.  Thomson Medical Education is a provider of medical communications, independent continuing medical education, and marketing sales support services to the pharmaceutical industry.

The Covington team was led by partner J. D. Weinberg.  The London, New York, and Washington based team also included associates Gregor Frizzell, Jonas Marson and Christine McMillan (corporate), partner Michael Francese and associates Philip Davies and Seth Safra (employee benefits), of counsel Guy Dingley and associate Rob Heller (tax), and partner Lee Tiedrich (IP).
