Spain Wins Right to Protect Sunken Vessels

August 9, 2000 — Washington, DC — In a sweeping decision protecting historic shipwrecks, a United States Court of Appeals has upheld Covington & Burling client the Kingdom of Spain's right as owner of its sunken vessels to prevent unauthorized disturbance or commercial salvage.
