China Turns on the Charm for Foreigners but Its Allure has Faded

Sean Stein’s commentary was included in a Wall Street Journal article examining efforts by the Chinese government to lure back foreigners in the wake of its’ COVID-19 policies. Sean comments on how business executives’ perspectives on residency in China have shifted.

Sean pointed out that “back in the day, China was the place where things happened. Upwardly mobile executives were fighting to come to China.” Now, he said, “people don’t see that there’s an upside.”
