Law360 named Covington an Insurance Practice Group of the Year, and the accompanying profile included commentary from Anna Engh, Marty Myers, and Ben Lenhart about Covington’s insurance practice expertise.
Anna discussed Covington’s work leading litigation for Merck as the company sought coverage against 32 property insurers, including units of AIG and Chubb, for losses from the 2017 NotPetya cyberattack being blamed on the Russian government and hackers. Anna said the firm’s work on the matter was a prime example of why policyholders want Covington on their side, adding that the action flexed the group's coverage litigation capabilities.
Marty said that on account of the practice group's continued success, it needs a greater scale to accommodate the volume of work both underway and brewing. “We're a highly selective, highly collaborative group,” he said. He also told Law360 that the insurance recovery group is considered one of the firm's “crown jewels.”
Ben added that “clients bring us, consistently, their largest, most complex, most important matters.”
