How Newman's Battle with Colleagues Shook the Federal Circuit

Richard Rainey’s commentary was included in a Law360 article covering the investigation into whether 96-year-old Judge Pauline Newman was fit to serve as a judge and her subsequent suspension. Richard commented on the effects Judge Newman’s later suit against her fellow judges and how it impacts the work of the court.

"I don't know that it necessarily impacts substance directly, but it has certainly been, for people who are court watchers and [interested in] patent law...very top of mind. As an appellate litigator...I don't have a practice of fashioning arguments towards any particular judge or not; it's always court generalized," he said. "So I don't really see it as impacting practice or how people approach issues."
