Ukraine Lawyers Insist That UN’s Top Court has Jurisdiction to Hear Kyiv’s Case Against Russia

Marney Cheek’s commentary was included in an Associated Press article discussing Ukraine’s case against Russia alleging Russia abused the 1948 Genocide Convention to justify their invasion of Ukraine. Lawyers including Marney represented Ukraine’s case before the International Court of Justice at The Hague.

Marney told judges that Russia’s preparations for its invasion last year did not only include its massive troop buildup along Ukraine’s borders. “It also included eight years of building a sham justification for Putin’s so-called special military operation,” she said.
