Law.com covered Dana Remus' Covington arrival.
On her arrival, Covington chair Doug Gibson said it was a “rare and unique opportunity” to bring a “senior and highly respected government lawyer” to the firm.
“She is uniformly regarded as a strategic, careful, brilliant and hardworking lawyer, with an unusual combination of genuine human decency and the ability to operate at the highest levels of government and commerce,” said Doug, adding that he envisions Dana playing “a major role” across many practices and making “important contributions” across the firm “for many years.”
Dana said in choosing Covington she was “drawn” to the “commitment to excellent lawyering and excellent client service” at the firm, and to the “collaborative and collegial” team culture, and dedication to public service through “meaningful” pro bono work.
“Covington represents the legal profession at its best,” Dana said.
“I spent a lot of time in the White House guiding clients through problems that were at the intersection of law, policy, politics and communication,” Dana said. “It is somewhat artificial to talk about legal problems in a vacuum. All the really hard problems that clients face—whether it’s government or private sector—are multi-dimensional. They tie together government, law, policy, politics and the private sector.”
“Here at Covington, I will use the same approach to problem-solving that I have throughout my career, just in a new context,” Dana said.
