Data Reform Bill announced in Queen’s Speech

Mark Young was quoted by Privacy Laws & Business regarding the UK government’s intention to bring forward a long-anticipated Data Reform Bill.

“Precisely which obligations will change as a result of the new [legislation] remain largely unclear, and it remains to be seen whether the EU institutions will continue to find the UK regime to provide an adequate level of protection, either in 2025 when the adequacy finding is renewed, or earlier,” Mark explained. “There will be some uncertainty for businesses not only until the full text of the Bill is released, but also afterwards when we see the reaction from the EU."
