House Judiciary delves into FARA in first dedicated hearing in 30 years

Rob Kelner was quoted by Politico in an article on a recent hearing debating whether the Foreign Agents Registration Act should be expanded or reined in.

Rob observed that the House Judiciary Committee’s array of suggestions reflected “that there is a wide range of views about how to approach reforming FARA, with many people thinking the statute needs to be clarified and narrowed, and many others thinking that it needs to be expanded and toughened,” he said.

He continued to explain how the hearing demonstrated that “there's a really big divide between those two points of view” that will make it difficult to achieve consensus on reform measures.
