Local laws proving to be roadblocks for GDPR harmonization

Lars Lensdorf spoke with Compliance Week about the roadblocks for full GDPR implementation across Europe caused by local laws. He says the question of the interplay between Article 83 of the GDPR and national rules on evidence and procedure may ultimately be referred to the Court of Justice of the European Union. “Only time will tell whether this issue can be aligned across Europe, and the outcome will be of major importance for GDPR enforcement activity going forward,” he says.
