Leaders call for free trade for Africa

April 10, 2018, African Law & Business

Witney Schneidman is quoted in an African Law & Business article regarding a continental free trade agreement signed by over 40 African governments. According to Schneidman, “The signing of the [African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA)] is a significant development and should be supported by all of the region's partners.” He notes, “AfCFTA culminates years of work by several regional economic organizations and the African Union, and indicates that regional economic integration is a top priority for most African governments.” He adds that the African Union “should also be congratulated for achieving this important outcome.”
