Women in Antitrust Roundtable

October 27, 2016 , Global Competition Review

Deborah Garza participated in the GCR “Women in Antitrust Roundtable.” Among her many comments, Garza provided advice to young lawyers just beginning their careers: “I advise young lawyers to take control over their careers and their development as lawyers. That means not just waiting for whatever assignments are given to you, but seeking out assignments and conversations with lawyers with whom you may not be working. Do your own reading and networking. Also, every touch with a more senior lawyer is like an interview in the sense that they are forming judgments about how you would be with clients on your own, with a court, with opposing counsel and co-counsel. Finally, if you project confidence in yourself, others are more likely to be confident in you. It seems like it took me too long to figure all this out on my own!”
