Food Labeling: Nutrient Content, Health and Other Claims

Cory Trio taught a session on food labeling issues as part of the Food and Drug Law Institute's (FDLI's) Introduction to Food Law and Regulation course. The session covered foundational concepts in FDA’s oversight of food labeling, including the requirements for nutrient content claims, health claims, and structure/function claims, as well as claim issues related to federal preemption, claim substantiation, and associated regulatory enforcement and consumer class action litigation risks.
