International Mediation 101

The Singapore Mediation Convention, which came into force for Japan on April 1, 2024, is an international treaty that provides a framework for enforcement and recognition to settlement agreements resulting from mediation. Japan's implementing legislation also entered into force on the same day. Mediation is attracting increasing attention from the business community as it is an effective ADR tool to resolve disputes faster and cheaper and preserve commercial relationships. Covington Of Counsel Kyongwha Chung partnered with FRONTEO to provide an overview of the Singapore Mediation Convention and practical issues to consider in mediating disputes.
