Cory Trio taught a session on food imports and international issues as part of the Food and Drug Law Institute's (FDLI's) Introduction to Food Law and Regulation course. The session covered foundational concepts in FDA and USDA’s oversight of food imports and exports, including the FDA and USDA statutory and regulatory frameworks for imports and exports, the delegation of responsibilities between CBP and FDA, FDA and USDA enforcement tools, and specific import requirements for foods (e.g., FDA’s Prior Notice and Foreign Supplier Verification Program requirements and the Voluntary Qualified Importer Program).
