Please join Covington's Kurt Wimmer Media Freedom Pro Bono Initiative for the "Dismantling the Independent Media through Systemic Restrictions" panel discussion on Friday, May 5 at 10:30 a.m. Eastern in our New York Office.
This program is co-sponsored by Covington, the High Level Panel of Legal Experts on Media Freedom (HLP) and the Global Freedom of Expression Initiative at Columbia University. Dan Feldman and Can Yeginsu will be joined by speakers from the Committee to Protect Journalists and the Associated Press to discuss strategies lawyers can undertake to deliver on the promise of media freedom around the world, based on research on systemic restrictions governments impose on media that Covington previously co-authored with HLP. Peter Lichtenbaum will provide opening remarks.
Through the Wimmer Initiative the firm undertakes a broad range of pro bono matters aimed at protecting and advancing media freedom. The Wimmer Initiative was launched as a tribute to our late partner, Kurt Wimmer, an international leader in media law.
