Covington & Environmental Law Institute Webinar: West Virginia v. EPA: Analyzing the U.S. Supreme Court’s Decision

  • Tuesday, July 12, 2022 12:00 PM - 1:15 PM

On Tuesday, July 12, Kevin Poloncarz, co-chair of Covington's Environmental and Energy practice group, Energy industry group, and ESG practice group, will participate in a panel on the U.S. Supreme Court's decision in West Virginia v. EPA. The decision has clear environmental implications, for EPA’s authority both to regulate emissions from stationary sources and to regulate greenhouse gases more broadly, and how Congress may delegate regulatory authority to any federal agency. ELI and leading experts in environmental and regulatory law will consider questions raised by the justices’ opinions and discuss what the decision will mean for environmental law, administrative law, and EPA’s power to act on climate change.

Panelists:
Kevin Poloncarz, Partner, Covington & Burling LLP
• Kate Bowers, Legislative Attorney, Congressional Research Service (Moderator)
• Lisa Heinzerling, Professor of Law, Georgetown Law Center
• Matthew Leopold, Partner, Hunton Andrews Kurth
• Vickie Patton, General Counsel, Environmental Defense Fund
