Covington Hosts Panel Discussion for Diverse Associates Network

June 8, 2018

DANCovington hosted an event for the Diverse Associates Network, a Washington-based organization with the goal of building a sustainable and diverse community of legal professionals who intend to achieve and succeed in positions of influence in law firms, corporate law departments, and government service. The event featured a panel discussion on “Exploring the Road to Partnership in Biglaw.”

Brandon Myers, an associate in our Litigation practice, kicked off the event by welcoming the attendees and introducing the panel. Leading the discussion were Jennifer Johnson, a partner and the co-lead of our Internet of Things (IoT) practice and Phyllis Jones, a partner in our Litigation practice. Floyd Mills, our Director of Diversity and Inclusion, moderated a lively discussion which focused on the importance of delivering quality work, the role of mentors and sponsors and the value of relationships—both internal and external. The panel also addressed the unique challenges associated with working in the legal profession as a person of color.
