Covington’s LGBT+ Affinity Group Attends Out in Big Law Event

February 8, 2017

Members of Covington’s LGBT+ Affinity Group attended a program titled Out in Big Law at the University of Michigan Law School on January 27. The program, organized by the Outlaws organization at Michigan, was intended to provide law students with insights into the practice of law at large law firms in several major markets around the country. Christopher Hanson represented Covington as part of a lunch-time panel discussion, which also included lawyers from two other firms.

Panelists spoke about their experiences practicing law as LGBT+ lawyers, including their pro bono work, relationships with mentors, and opportunities for LGBT+ advocacy. In the evening, Outlaws hosted a reception at a local restaurant to allow for more informal conversation between the lawyers and law students. In addition to Christopher, Lindsey Barnhart, Jack Nelson, and Stefanie Doebler attended, as did approximately 30 Outlaws members.
