Covington Has Pride!

Covington kicked off Pride weekend in Washington with a reception hosted by the firm’s LGBT+ Affinity Group. The annual event draws lawyers and summer associates in a demonstration of the firm’s support for the LGBT+ community. During the event, firm chair, Tim Hester, addressed the group and reinforced the firm’s commitment to attracting and developing a diverse talent pool.

Friday’s reception served as a prelude to the Capital Pride celebration. Members of Covington’s LGBT+ Affinity Group joined thousands for the annual Pride Parade, organized by the Capital Pride Alliance. This year, the Alliance named Judy and Dennis Shepard as grand marshals of the parade. The Shepards are the founders of the Matthew Shepard Foundation—named for their son, who was killed in 1998. The couple have since become activists, focusing on anti-discrimination measures for the LGBTQ+ community.

The firm will continue its celebration of Pride month with a summer associate event later this month.
