Kgabo Mashalane is a South African qualified lawyer in the anti-corruption and compliance associate, with experience working on market entry considerations, research on anti-corruption and bribery in Senegal, Mauritania, and Ghana. She has experience working on infrastructure and renewable energy projects and corporate transactions across Africa and the Middle East having practiced in the Covington Project Finance and Development practice. Ms. Mashalane’s experience includes corporate transactions (including mergers and acquisitions) relating to the international energy and infrastructure projects and advisory experience in the financing of transportation in South Africa.

  • Advised client on market entry and anti-corruption considerations, research on anti-corruption and bribery in Senegal, Mauritania, and Ghana.
  • Represented the sponsor in respect of the financing of the 100+ MW CSP Redstone project in South Africa.
  • Represented the sponsor and project company on the 300MW Sakaka IPP photovoltaic solar project. Sakaka IPP is the first ever utility scale renewable energy project under the National Renewable Energy Program of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia. The project won “Middle East and Africa Power Deal of the Year” at the PFI Awards 2018.
  • Advised lender on the financing of up to $150 million to SA Taxi, which will provide loans to entrepreneurs operating minibuses in South Africa.
  • Acted as Borrower counsel in respect of a $243 million new financing facility for the Al Ezzel Power Company, a key electricity supplier in Bahrain. The project won “Middle East and Africa Refinancing Deal of the Year” at the PFI Awards 2018.
