Firm Honoured in Two More Categories at LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2025
LONDON— Caolán Duffy, a second year trainee with Covington, was named winner in the Best Contribution by a Junior Lawyer category at LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2025 in London last night for his work with Kids in Need of Defense UK (KIND) and the Schools Consent Project.
Caolán has worked on two complex KIND cases in the last year, securing Leave to Remain for a mother of three children, and representing a mother and daughter, who were survivors of domestic abuse, in applying for leave on non-standard grounds.
Caolán has also been an active volunteer with the Schools Consent Project, delivering sessions to Year 11 and Year 12 students, including a recent assembly session in London which reached over 200 pupils.
Covington also picked up the award for Best Contribution to the LawWorks Not For Profits Programme, which supports a range of small charities and empowers them to focus on their core missions and enhance their operational capabilities. Over 40 Covington lawyers have been involved in the programme in the past year.
In addition, Covington was Highly Commended in the International Pro Bono Award category for the firm's work on the Refugee Legal Database Project with AsyLex, supporting the expansion of the Rights in Exile platform — a global online resource that provides asylum seekers and refugees with access to legal information and representation.
In total, the firm and its lawyers were shortlisted four times at this year's awards.
Earlier this year, Covington was named the top firm for pro bono work in the UK by Law.com International, with an impressive 100% of London lawyers engaged in pro bono projects.
LawWorks is a UK charity committed to enabling access to justice through free legal advice. The annual LawWorks Pro Bono Awards celebrate the best legal pro bono activities undertaken by organisations and individuals and the positive impact they have had on those helped.
