WASHINGTON—Covington was awarded the Pro Bono Award by the National Homelessness Law Center at the organization’s 2025 Human Right to Housing Awards. The annual awards honor organizations, leaders, and changemakers that work to bring awareness to and advance the solutions to homelessness and poverty.
“For 34 years, we have been proud to support the National Homelessness Law Center through the pro bono engagement of our lawyers. Our volunteers have worked with the Law Center on many important issues, including efforts to revise federal regulations to make resources available to homelessness service providers, as well as defending the importance of affordable housing policies and programs in litigation. These collaborations have not only made a tangible impact on the ground but have also enriched the professional lives of our attorneys who are deeply invested in advocating for social justice,” John August said when accepting the award on the firm’s behalf.
The National Homelessness Law Center is a team of attorneys and advocates dedicated to using the power of the law to prevent and solve homelessness and to protecting the rights of people experiencing homelessness.
Covington has demonstrated a strong commitment to public service. The firm is frequently recognized for pro bono service, including being ranked 12 times as the number one pro bono practice in the U.S. by The American Lawyer. Much of the firm's pro bono work is anchored in meeting local needs, serving economically disadvantaged individuals and families in our surrounding communities, in addition to its long history of serving vulnerable clients and important causes throughout the U.S. and the world.
