Sean Stein Elected Chairman of the AmCham Shanghai Board of Governors

WASHINGTON—Covington’s Sean Stein has been elected Chairman of the Board of Governors of the American Chamber of Commerce in Shanghai (AmCham Shanghai). The Board is responsible for the policy making of the organization and the general direction of the Chamber's activities.
“I look forward to working with and serving the AmCham Shanghai business community at this crucial juncture in US-China relations. AmCham Shanghai is an indispensable voice and advocate for the business community. I’m honored to have been chosen to serve in this role,” Sean said.
A senior advisor in Covington’s Public Policy Practice Group, Sean is a key resource to businesses on issues related to political risk, public affairs, problem solving, and communications. He regularly assists companies in addressing and resolving acute or long-term issues often through discussions with U.S. and Chinese government officials. Prior to joining Covington, Sean served as the U.S. Consul General in Shanghai. He has over twenty years of diplomatic experience in Asia and has served in leadership positions in China, Washington, and the region.
