Jessica Arco: El riesgo de la corrupción sigue siendo alto en América Latina

October 18, 2018, El Universo

Jessica Arco participated in a Q&A with major Ecuadorean newspaper El Universo about the risks of investing in Latin America. The interview covered corruption in Latin America, the FCPA, and the U.S. government’s enforcement focus on the energy sector. Regarding what tools exist for companies and individuals to denounce requests for bribes, Ms. Arco said that “complaints may be filed with the authorities, usually the Department of Justice or the Securities and Exchange Commission. With respect to employees of a company, certain anti-retaliation protections exist and they may even obtain a percentage of the fine set by the authorities.”
