On June 23, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services (“CMS”) published its final rule to implement Medicare laboratory policy changes made under Section 216(a) of the Protecting Access to Medicare Act of 2014 (“PAMA”). Responding to public comments it received on last year’s proposed rule, CMS made a number of significant changes and postponed the PAMA effective date by one year, to January 1, 2018.
