David Lefebvre advises media and entertainment companies in connection with licensing and distribution arrangements across a variety of platforms. What advice would you give to someone who wants to be an ally to the API community?
To be an ally to any community, I’d recommend many of the actions that Professor Kenji Yoshino discussed in his recent presentation to the firm: listening to members of the group, learning about systemic issues affecting that group, reflecting on one’s own role within those systems, and practicing the golden rule (treating others as you wish to be treated).
What AAPI person do you admire or book do you recommend?
It’s not a book, but the
LA Times has a great podcast called “Asian Enough”, where famous guests share personal stories on the Asian American experience. I particularly enjoyed the interview with actor Dante Basco, a fellow Filipino American and Bay Area native, who played the Lost Boy (and icon to ‘90s kids everywhere) Rufio in the movie “Hook.”
