Several representatives from Covington were among the attendees at the Williams Institute Spring Reception in Washington on Wednesday, May 16. The Williams Institute is a think tank at UCLA Law that is dedicated to conducting rigorous, independent research on sexual orientation and gender identity law and public policy. The institute produces high-quality research with real-world relevance and disseminates it to judges, legislators, policymakers, media, and the public. The annual spring reception boosts the institute’s visibility on the East Coast and raises funds for the organization.
The event featured a panel discussion between Jocelyn Samuels, the Executive Director of the Williams Institute, and Roger Severino, Health and Human Services Director of the Office for Civil Rights. It also featured a keynote speech from United States Representative, Adam Schiff.
