David Walder is an associate in Covington’s UK Tax and Employee Benefits group in London. Mr Walder works with public and private companies across a wide range of transactional and advisory matters, including mergers and acquisitions, real estate taxation, employee benefits, employment taxation, SEIS and EIS investments, stamp taxes, and VAT. He also advises clients on UK Research & Development tax reliefs and the UK Patent Box. Mr Walder has acted for a range of clients, including pharmaceutical companies and biotechs, technology companies, retailers, and charities.

  • Advising various life sciences companies on the availability of R&D tax relief and the UK Patent Box.
  • Acting for a UK craft brewer in its EIS-compliant offering to investors, including seeking advance assurance from HMRC.
  • Assessing the liability of a novel tobacco product to certain customs and excise duties.
  • Acting for a major UK fashion retailer in respect of its SDLT compliance.

  • Advising UK charities on matters relating to registration with HMRC, UK taxation of charities and Stamp Duty Land Tax.
