    Tim Sprague is a member of the firm’s White Collar Defense and Investigations Practice Group. His practice focuses on white collar criminal matters, regulatory enforcement actions, internal corporate investigations, and compliance counseling.

    Tim represents individuals and business entities in connection with investigations and proceedings initiated by law enforcement or regulators including the U.S. Department of Justice, Securities and Exchange Commission, financial regulatory authorities, and state attorneys general.

    Tim has experience handling matters for clients across an array of industries, including those who are facing allegations relating to:

    • Money laundering
    • Foreign corrupt practices
    • Banking regulations
    • Consumer protection statutes
    • Mail, wire, or accounting fraud
    • Employee self-dealing and other misconduct
    • Securities laws
    • Trade compliance

    Tim’s experience also includes advising clients — including banks and nonbank financial institutions — on Bank Secrecy Act and Anti-Money Laundering requirements, as well as the structure and functioning of related compliance frameworks.

    • Conducted an internal investigation at a multinational client in response to whistleblower allegations of corruption surrounding regulatory approval of a corporate acquisition.
    • Represented a large bank during an investigation by state and federal regulatory authorities into aspects of its anti-money laundering compliance program.
    • Represented publicly traded financial institutions during enforcement actions brought by banking regulators.
    • Conducted expedited investigation at an international media conglomerate in response to whistleblower allegations concerning FCPA, money laundering and election law violations, as well as embezzlement and securities fraud.
    • Advised both bank and non-bank financial institution clients during creation or enhancement of their AML compliance programs, including assistance with risk assessment, strategic decision-making and development of relevant policies and procedures.
    • Represented a Fortune 500 company in connection with a multi-year investigation conducted jointly by DOJ and a United States Attorney’s office. Represented the same company with respect to concurrent state investigations and related civil litigation.
    • Represented multiple publicly-traded companies in response to SEC investigations concerning the Securities, Securities Exchange, Investment Advisers and Investment Company Acts.
