Carol Szurkowski represents clients in a variety of complex antitrust and litigation matters. She has particular experience defending financial institutions in antitrust class actions and multi-district litigations. Ms. Szurkowski has also advised clients in the technology, energy, and medical device sectors on a variety of antitrust issues.

  • Representing a leading financial institution in nationwide antitrust class action involving interest rate derivatives.
  • Representing a leading financial institution in nationwide antitrust class action involving U.S. Treasury securities.
  • Defeated a putative class action by obtaining summary judgment on claims accusing a leading lending institution of fraud and deceptive practices to enroll customers in lending products.
  • Represented a leading lending institution in arbitration proceeding alleging violation of the Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
  • Represented clients in connection with civil and criminal investigations before the DOJ and state attorney general’s offices.
  • Represented social media company in federal antitrust lawsuit alleging monopolization and tying claims.

Pro Bono

  • Briefed and argued an appeal as amicus curiae in the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit regarding the denial of a petition for expungement of a criminal record.
  • Prepared Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of family members of soldiers named on the Peace Cross in American Legion v. American Humanist Association (No. 17-1717).
  • Prepared Supreme Court amicus brief on behalf of 207 Members of Congress in Zubik v. Burwell (No. 14-1418).
