Ryan Mowery is an associate in the firm’s Washington, DC office and a member of the Litigation and  Public Policy practice groups. Her practice focuses on representation of clients as plaintiffs and defendants in complex civil litigation across a range of industries, and providing guidance and legislative advocacy to policy and industry organizations. Prior to joining the firm, Ms. Mowery clerked for Judge Albert Diaz on the United States Court of Appeals for the Fourth Circuit, and for Judge Liam O’Grady on the United States District Court for the Eastern District of Virginia.

Complex Civil Litigation

  • Representing Bacardi in litigation in federal district court related to rights to the HAVANA CLUB trademark.
  • Representing state in complex environmental litigation involving claims under state statutory and common law.
  • Representing major pharmaceutical corporation in connection with putative class action claims under the Telephone Consumer Protection Act (TCPA).
  • Representing prominent international corporation in connection with claims under the False Claims Act (FCA).
  • Successfully represented DARCARS automotive group in complex civil litigation related to a succession and ownership dispute, winning summary judgment on all claims.

Public Policy and Government Affairs

  • Represented the Protect Trade Secrets Coalition in securing the enactment of legislation to establish a federal civil remedy for trade secret misappropriation, which was signed into law in May 2016.
  • Advised think tank in production of position paper on public transportation policy.

Pro Bono

  • Filed amicus brief in the United States Supreme Court in Joseph H. v. California (No. 15-1086) on behalf of professional organization focused on child abuse and neglect.
