Mac Mackie focuses his practice on complex international and transnational legal issues. He represents clients in connection with international and cross-border disputes, and also advises clients on international trade controls issues.

Mr. Mackie’s international disputes practice focuses on the litigation of public international law claims, the arbitration of investor-state and cross-border commercial disputes, and the resolution of other treaty-based claims. His domestic litigation practice involves disputes with cross-border or international implications.

Mr. Mackie’s advisory work concerns U.S. economic sanctions and export controls. He advises on interpretive issues, secures licenses, performs risk assessments, advises on corporate transactions, and develops compliance programs.

  • Representation of a government contractor in parallel international commercial arbitration and domestic litigation proceedings.

  • Counseled a major sports league on U.S. sanctions issues in connection with the negotiation and roll out of an international, content-broadcasting deal.

Pro Bono

  • Represents global NGOs in ongoing international arbitrations premised on a multilateral agreement considering labor and human rights issues.
  • Advised civil actors and interested parties on the drafting of rules of evidence to govern the Hybrid Court of South Sudan (a tribunal to be formed by the transitional South Sudanese government as mandated by the Agreement on the Resolution of the Conflict in the Republic of South Sudan).
